Voter Registration

City of Ottawa employees who serve as voter registrars can register any resident of the State of Illinois to vote. Applicants must bring two forms of identification, at least one of which shows the applicant’s current home address.

Birth and Death Certificates

As local registrars the City Clerk’s office can supply certified copies of local Birth and Death records. Any person born at the local Ottawa Hospital has record of birth and anyone passing within the City’s district has record of death. Please contact the Clerk’s office before requesting copies to verify availability at 815 433 0161. Certified copies are $12 for the first copy and $7 for each copy thereafter.

Notary Public

Notary services are typically available at the City Hall during regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please first call the general City’s line at 815 433 0161 to ensure a notary is available. City notary services are free of charge to the public.
