The City of Ottawa Civil Service Commission will be testing to establish an eligibility register for future positions in Public Works-Water/wastewater Division on November 7, 2018. Applications will be available on October 1, 2018.

Knowledge of water/wastewater operations is recommended, but not required for this examination

Job Description: Under limited supervision, operates motorized equipment and performs semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure and Treatment Plants. Performs other duties as assigned. Must obtain CDL within 6 months of accepting position.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Ability to work in adverse weather; be subject to after-hours, weekend and holiday callback.
Perform service and routine repairs to equipment.
Collect samples, complete routine laboratory testing, and maintain accurate records.
Operate skid steer loader, backhoe and wheel loader with various attachments.
Operate turf maintenance mowers and equipment.
Perform routine buildings, plantings and grounds maintenance.
Operate trucks for snow removal, salt application and material handling.
Will be assigned to On-Call Rotation after a period of training
Perform manual labor as required.
