City of Ottawa, Illinois

Commissioner James Less has announced the City of Ottawa is again offering a program for the disposal of live Christmas trees after the holidays.

Local residents wishing to participate may bring their trees to the Riordan pool parking lot beginning Saturday, January 6, 2018.   The program will allow for trees to be dropped off through and including Saturday, January 13, 2018.  (the lot is located on Utica drive one block north of the 600 block of east Norris drive.)  Trees may be dropped off during daylight hours in the designated drop-off area during this period.

Staff will be chipping on an as needed basis and at varying times during normal business hours.  The City will provide bags to those wanting to take chips for mulch and help will be available on a limited basis during chipping operations to assist in removing trees from vehicles.

Please note:  Christmas lights and decorations shall be removed from the trees prior to disposal at this location.

There is no charge for this service.
