ELECTRICAL LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION
City of Ottawa Electrical Licenses expire on December 31. Licenses can be renewed any time after December 1.
All renewal requests made after March 1 will be charged an additional $25.00 late fee.
All new and renewal license submittals must include the following:
- A $100 annual license fee, check or money order. Credit cards can only be used if paying in person. After March 1, a $25.00 late fee will be added.
- A copy of the license holder’s General Liability insurance coverage showing the City of Ottawa as Certificate Holder. Or, a written note verifying the current employer and that the applicant does not do electrical work outside of that employment.
A photo-copy of a current valid driver’s license or a photo ID that will be incorporated into the license.
All three items must be submitted together and mailed or dropped off at:

Those wishing to have a company name included with license holder’s name on the license must be sure to include that information too.
